I first started learning Spanish from Spain (bc of the course I used) but I switched to Spanish from Argentina to speak more with my partner and get used to understanding the accent more. My accent is a horrific mixture of Argentine, Spanish and British accent… lmao. (It’s the british accent that’s butchering it lol.) I wish I sounded as pretty and could speak as fast, I will have to keep practicing.
I did get a compliment from an argentine teacher today though. It makes them happy when someone adopts that accent over another, a lot of people apologise to learners of Spanish for their accent being different but I think it’s great.
For me it’s second nature now but did take time to learn to switch LL and Y to argentine pronunciation since I was already 3 months into learning at the time.
